Armenian Frustration Mounts Over Stalled EU Visa Facilitation

Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, expressed disappointment over a lack of progress on visa facilitation with the European Union. Despite ongoing efforts, Hovhannisyan said there has been a “considerable regress” in the matter.

This setback applies not only to regular citizens but also to students participating in the Erasmus program and even some Armenian officials. Hovhannisyan pointed out the specific challenges faced by these groups, who ideally should have a streamlined visa process.

The Deputy FM acknowledged the work done on both sides but emphasized the disheartening outcome. He also mentioned receiving numerous complaints from Armenian citizens struggling with the current visa regime.

This news comes amidst Armenia’s efforts to strengthen ties with the European Union. The stalled progress on visa facilitation could potentially create a hurdle in further developing relations.
