Azerbaijan’s Concerns Over Armenia’s EU-US Talks for Regional Divides

Azerbaijan Criticizes Armenia’s EU-US Talks for Regional Divides

Azerbaijan has expressed concern over an upcoming meeting between Armenia, the European Union, and the United States, warning that it could create new divisions in the South Caucasus region. The conference, scheduled for next month, is seen by Azerbaijan as promoting “spheres of influence” instead of encouraging genuine negotiations for peace.

Aykhan Hajizada, spokesperson for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, criticized the actions of the EU and US, stating that they have a one-sided and biased approach. He highlighted the lack of transparency and regional inclusivity in the conference, suggesting that it goes against the principles of confidence-building and integrity in the region.

Furthermore, Hajizada raised concerns about the potential illusion created in Armenia that the EU and US would support them in future provocations against Azerbaijan. He emphasized that if such destabilizing actions were to occur, the responsibility would lie with the EU and US.

In light of these concerns, Azerbaijan called on all parties involved to refrain from taking counterproductive steps that could escalate tensions and hinder the progress of peace talks.

This critique from Azerbaijan highlights the delicate nature of the peace process in the South Caucasus region. It underscores the need for inclusive and transparent negotiations that prioritize the interests of all parties involved.
