Houthi Leader Confirms Expansion of Operations to Indian Ocean and Southern Israel

Abdul Malik Al-Houthi’s Comments on Houthi Operations in the Indian Ocean and Southern Israel

Abdul Malik Al-Houthi, the leader of Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group, recently made comments confirming the group’s expansion of operations to the Indian Ocean region and attacks towards southern Israel. These comments shed light on the Houthi’s earlier threats to carry out such actions.

The Houthi group, known for their attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, has now claimed to have conducted “operations” in the Indian Ocean as well as towards southern Israel. Al-Houthi’s statements make it clear that the Houthi group is following through on their previous declarations to expand their operations to these areas.

The Houthi group has repeatedly launched attacks towards the southern Israeli port of Eilat, considering it a direct confrontation with Israel. Al-Houthi, in a televised speech, revealed that the Houthi group has conducted 14 operations in the past two weeks in various locations including the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea, the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and the Indian Ocean.

The Houthi group claims that their attacks on shipping, which began in the Red Sea region last November, are in solidarity with the Palestinians who are facing Israeli aggression in Gaza. Al-Houthi clarified that there is no danger to maritime traffic related to ships linked to European countries that are not heading to Israel.

According to Al-Houthi, the group has targeted 98 ships so far in an attempt to prevent them from sailing through the Red Sea towards Israel. The Houthi group intends to continue these actions until Israel ceases its military offensive against Hamas in Gaza, which was initiated after an attack by the Palestinian militant group on southern Israel on October 7.

Al-Houthi emphasized that the solution in everyone’s interest is to stop the Israeli aggression, lift the siege in Gaza, and provide essential supplies such as food and medicine to the Gaza Strip.

In conclusion, Abdul Malik Al-Houthi’s comments provide insight into the Houthi group’s expansion of operations to the Indian Ocean and their ongoing attacks towards southern Israel. The group justifies these actions as a form of solidarity with the Palestinians and calls for an end to Israeli aggression and the provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
