UAE and Egypt Deliver More Aid to Gaza Strip

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt have joined forces to deliver another 53 tonnes of food and medical aid to northern Gaza. This latest shipment brings the total amount of aid provided to 169 tonnes since the operation began last week.

The airdrop operation is part of “Gallant Knight 3,” a humanitarian initiative launched by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in November 2023 to support Palestinian civilians in Gaza. This marks the fourth airdrop in the series, following deliveries of 38 tonnes and 42 tonnes on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

The UAE has been a prominent contributor to humanitarian efforts in Gaza since the recent conflict began in October 2023. Here are some highlights of their contributions:

  • Floating Hospital: A 100-bed floating hospital set sail from the UAE and arrived at El Arish Airport in Egypt last month. This repurposed vessel is now treating patients in Gaza.
  • Field Hospital: The UAE established a 200-bed field hospital inside Gaza in December 2023. Staffed by 83 volunteers from 21 nationalities, the hospital has treated over 5,770 patients as of late February, many requiring critical surgery.

These ongoing efforts by the UAE and Egypt aim to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza by providing essential food, medical supplies, and healthcare services.pen_sparktunesharemore_vert
